Scot -- thanks for your comments. I like your idea about moving the title of the blog (also mentioned by Michael above).

If you don't mind, I think I'll steal that idea.

I think you can add another column -- but the overall theme needs to be wider to do so. Most screens would support your theme being at lease two more inches wide.

I haven't looked at the rest of the site (I subscribe!!), but pictures always help out by breaking up the space and providing some focal points.

The book in the header is actually a good color combination if you were to move the title of the blog into it using the solid black above. It is, perhaps, too high, so a bit thinner might help.

But, having said all that, I'm a guy who changes my theme all the time. Shiny things excite me and make me lose my focus...

Nice writing here. Thanks for doing it.

A little more writerly neurosis on your part would be nice. Let us feel your pain, man.

Hi Gordon-

I like the color scheme myself because it's simple, but a change might be fun.

I hope that you do post your novel-writing struggles (and successes) as well as some samples.

Armand

ps: Summer break is rolling around soon, and I think there will be more activity on the blog then. In fact, I teach my last morning class tomorrow. (yay!)

Hmmm. I'm not sure that adding another column would suit my tastes. I like the white space. It's hot to trot. Coincidentally I also love white and gray. Why not get rid of the book image at the top of the page, and use a logo, such as "After the MFA" in a stylized or plain Georgia font? The block "After the MFA" font (is it arial?) at the top doesn't seem to fit well.

My favorite color is silver.
